Claudia van Orden serves as a lecturer in the Family Business Lectorate at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, a position she has held since August 2023. Previously, she worked as an acting lecturer and lecturer-researcher with the Networks in a Circular Economy and Social Innovation research groups.
Her research expertise centers on stakeholders within entrepreneurial ecosystems surrounding family businesses, with particular focus on how these businesses can enhance their social impact both locally and broadly. Key research questions examine how SME family businesses select supply chain partners and position themselves as attractive collaborators.
Dr. van Orden's academic background includes psychology and law studies at Utrecht University, a Master's in Industrial Psychology from Hull University (UK), and a PhD from the University of Groningen (2000), based on research conducted at TNO Human Factors.
With extensive professional experience in HR-related roles at TNO Management Consultants, GITP, and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, she returned to research in 2016. Her work primarily supports social enterprises through projects measuring social impact, social procurement practices, and partnership collaboration dynamics. She applies this expertise to the Family Business research group, which partners with family businesses, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions for increasing social impact.
