Claudia Werker is an Associate Professor in the Economics of Technology and Innovation section within the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Since 2022, she has chaired the Inclusive Research and Innovation (IRI) in STEM initiative, implementing TU Delft's strategic priority on this topic. She also hosts a podcast series exploring how STEM colleagues engage in IRI in STEM since December 2023.
Dr. Werker received her PhD in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) from Freiberg University of Technology, Germany, summa cum laude, and joined TU Delft in 2007. She serves on the works council of Delft University of Technology, having served as vice-chairperson until 2023 and currently as chairperson of the works and students council working group on diversity and inclusion.
Her research focuses on how responsible research and innovation systems and innovative ecosystems evolve, particularly examining how stakeholder involvement can drive research and innovation. She investigates how collaborations and innovation transform socio-technical systems, with special attention to integrating human diversity (gender, age, ethnicity, social class) into STEM research, design, engineering, and innovation.
Dr. Werker's publications span topics including inclusive research and innovation, responsible research and innovation systems, collaboration dynamics, proximity in research networks, and academic career development. Her recent work examines entrepreneurial mindset, diversity in research teams, and open innovation practices in innovation ecosystems.

As an educator, Dr. Werker teaches courses on responsible innovation systems, knowledge networks, innovation systems, technology and industry dynamics, innovation management, innovation and technology policy, and university-industry linkages. She also teaches a free online course on Big Data Strategies to Transform Your Business.
