Claudia Schmidt

Prof. Dr. Claudia Schmidt is a Professor and group leader in the Department of Chemistry at Paderborn University's Faculty of Science. Her research focuses on soft matter, particularly nano- and microstructured surfactant systems, liquid crystals, and polymers, investigated primarily with NMR methods using a 300 MHz solid-state spectrometer and a minispec.

Her research interests span Soft Matter Physics, Physical Chemistry, NMR Spectroscopy, and Materials Science. She investigates the molecular structure and dynamics of complex materials with applications in sustainable chemistry and advanced materials development. Her work contributes to Paderborn University's key research area in 'Sustainable Materials, Processes and Products'.

Prof. Schmidt serves as a Member of DFG Review Board 323 'Physical Chemistry' and acts as an Ombudsperson for the Deutsche Bunsengesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie. She is actively involved with the German Colloid Society and organizes meetings through the Kolloid-Gesellschaft.

Her recent publications demonstrate expertise across carbon materials, hydrochar pyrolysis, polymer diffusion, clay nanocomposites, and silicone material degradation, appearing in high-impact journals including Advanced Materials and ACS Applied Polymer Materials.
