Claudia Emck

Claudia Emck is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, VU University, with affiliations to IBBA and AMS - Rehabilitation & Development. She specializes in psychomotor therapy and movement-based interventions for psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her research focuses on autism spectrum disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, and intellectual disabilities, emphasizing motor behavior analysis and therapeutic interventions.

• Education: PhD in Human Movement Sciences (VU University, 2011), Master's in Clinical and Health Psychology (Utrecht University, 2005).

Research Interests: Psychomotor diagnosis and treatment, body experience, balance/postural control, trauma-related interventions, and developmental disorders. She supervises PhD students Minke van de Kamp and Manon Smits, focusing on PTSD and sexual trauma in individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Teaching: Coordinator of the Minor Psychomotor Therapy (PMT) program, covering theoretical and clinical aspects of movement-oriented therapy for mental health. Courses include Psychopathology, Clinical Psychology, and practical stages in PMT.
