Claudia Cohn is a Professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. She serves as Medical Director of the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center Blood Bank and Chief Medical Officer of the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB).
Her research focuses on transfusion medicine, particularly evidence-based patient blood management to reduce unnecessary transfusions and enhance safety. She also investigates platelet storage innovations, utilization patterns, and immunologic responses to donor plasma. The University of Minnesota's status as one of the nation's largest platelet users due to umbilical cord stem cell transplant volume is central to her work.
