About
Claude Legault is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Université de Sherbrooke. He completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Université de Montréal (2005) and postdoctoral studies in Computational Chemistry at UCLA (2006-2007). His research bridges experimental and computational approaches to develop synthetic methodologies with broad applicability.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Université de Montréal (2005)
- NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, UCLA (2006-2007)
Legault's research focuses on hypervalent iodine chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, and computational reaction modeling. His group develops novel synthetic methodologies while utilizing quantum chemical calculations to understand reaction mechanisms and selectivities. Recent work includes enantioselective halogen bond catalysis and automated predictive reaction modeling.
His notable awards include the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplement (2019), Faculty Teaching Award (2018), and multiple NSERC scholarships. He leads the CYLview20 and CalcUS platforms for computational chemistry education and research.
