Claude Dutson is a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the Royal College of Art (RCA), School of Communication. She holds a PhD in Architecture (RCA, 2016) and has expertise in critical spatial practices blending architecture, technology, and power dynamics. Her research focuses on Silicon Valley’s corporate architecture, interrogating how tech giants’ physical spaces reflect corporate power and ethical consequences. She employs VR, 3D modeling, and architectural drawing to explore these themes using Publicly Available Information (PAI).
Her work spans queer spaces, immersive media, and the neoliberal university. She leads the RCA’s 'Immersive Acts Research Group' and teaches in programs like MA Design Products and MArch Cinematic Architecture at UCL’s Bartlett. Notable publications include contributions to Disegno, Architecture and Collective Life, and a co-edited special issue on higher education architectures.
Teaching roles include leadership in the OMI platform and Experimental Design Pathway. Her research also explores performance techniques and spatial alterities. Current projects include Virtual Realities + Alterities, examining immersive technologies through marginalized perspectives.
