Dr. Clare Sutherland is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychology, University of Aberdeen, with research focusing on social judgments from facial cues and prior knowledge. She examines stereotyping, intergroup dynamics, and cross-cultural perception in cognitive psychology.
- PhD Psychology (2016) and MRes Psychology (2011) from University of York; BSc Psychology (2010) from University of Glasgow.
Her research explores facial perception, generative AI biases, and trustworthiness judgments, funded by ARC, ESRC, and British Psychological Society. Recent work investigates AI-generated faces and cross-societal group biases.
Key scientific contributions include the 30th Experimental Psychology Award for early career research. She serves as Athena Swan lead for Psychology and sits on editorial boards for Visual Cognition and The Leadership Quarterly.
