Clare Palmer is the George T. and Gladys H. Abell Professor of Liberal Arts and Professor of Philosophy at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on environmental ethics, animal ethics, climate ethics, and the ethics of emerging technologies. She has authored/co-authored seminal works including *Wildlife Ethics* (2023) and *Companion Animal Ethics* (2015). Palmer holds interdisciplinary roles in the Environment Faculty (2024) and has led projects like the NEH grant on conservation biotechnology. She co-owns a 200-acre Texas ranch dedicated to wildlife restoration, including endangered Houston Toad conservation.
Education: PhD from Oxford University (1993). She previously served as President of the International Society for Environmental Ethics (2007–2010) and contributed to the National Academies’ forest health committee (2017–2019).
