Clare McManus

Clare McManus is Professor of Early Modern Literature and Theatre at Northumbria University, where she joined in 2023 after previous positions at the University of Roehampton, Queen's University Belfast, and other institutions. She founded and directed the Research Centre for Inclusive Humanities at Roehampton, establishing a record of leadership in humanities research.

McManus has held visiting professorships at the University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas at El Paso, indicating international recognition of her expertise. Her research examines early modern literary and theatrical traditions with particular attention to inclusive approaches to humanities scholarship.

Teaching experience spans multiple institutions with focus on early modern literature, theatre history, and cultural studies. Current research priorities at Northumbria continue her work on inclusive humanities frameworks and early modern textual traditions.
