Dr Clare Carruthers is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Tourism at the Ulster University Business School (UUBS), with nearly 20 years of experience in Higher Education and prior Further Education roles. She holds a PhD from Ulster University (2011), examining cultural tourism development in post-industrial cities, alongside an MSc in Tourism from Strathclyde University (1998) and a BSc in Combined Business Studies from Paisley University (1996).
Her research focuses on urban cultural tourism, cultural regeneration, and pedagogic innovations in assessment and digital learning environments. She has authored/co-authored over 40 journal articles, book chapters, and conference contributions. Clare is a regular journal reviewer and has served as an external examiner at institutions like Waterford Institute of Technology and the University of Brighton. She also advises on curriculum and examinations in Northern Ireland.
Clare’s teaching spans Festivals, Events, Cultural Tourism, and Marketing Management. She has undertaken consultancy projects for commercial organizations and is actively involved in academic leadership, including ILM accreditation (2015).
