Dr Clare Bucknell is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, holding the Fifty-Pound Fellowship since 2020. Previously, she served as Examination Fellow at All Souls College (2012–2019) and held a Frederick A. and Marion S. Pottle Fellowship at Yale Beinecke Library (2017). Her work bridges literary criticism, cultural history, and art analysis, with contributions to London Review of Books, New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, and Apollo Magazine.
Her research focuses on satire, British poetry (especially 18th-century works), and the cultural impact of literary anthologies. Recent publications include The Treasuries: Poetry Anthologies and the Making of British Culture (Bloomsbury, 2023) and co-edited Byron Among the English Poets (Cambridge UP, 2021).
Clare holds a DPhil from Oxford (2007–2010) and postgraduate training at Magdalen College, Oxford (2011–2012) and Trinity College, Cambridge (2010–2011). She has received AHRC postgraduate funding and contributes to Critical Quarterly as a contributing editor.
Her scholarly awards include recognition for her editorial and research work, reflecting her contributions to literary and cultural studies.
