About
Dr. Clara Jiang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on genomic and transcriptomic analysis of cardiovascular and psychiatric disorders, with emphasis on female health and drug repurposing strategies. She holds a PhD (2021) and Bachelor of Advanced Science (2017, First Class Honours with University Medal) from UQ, where she explored transposon roles in breast cancer genetics. She advocates for equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia through her role as a UQ Wellness Ambassador.
Her research interests span genetic aetiology of diseases, molecular mechanisms of transposons in cancer, and translational applications of genomic data. Notable contributions include studies on sex-specific genetic risks linking psychiatric and cardiovascular conditions, and investigating statins' potential antidepressant mechanisms via transcriptomics.
- Education:
- Bachelor of Advanced Science (First Class Honours), University of Queensland (2017)
- PhD in Molecular Biosciences, University of Queensland (2021)
Her work bridges computational biology and experimental validation, contributing to our understanding of transposon exaptation in cancer regulation and SARS-CoV-2 antibody dynamics. She actively promotes interdisciplinary approaches in mental health research and cardiovascular medicine.
- Awards:
- University Medal (2017)
As part of IMB's research community, Dr. Jiang collaborates across disciplines to advance precision medicine and genomic therapies. Her current projects explore sex-differentiated genetic risks and novel therapeutic pathways in mental health conditions.
