Clara Hardy

Clara Hardy is Professor and Chair of Classics at Carleton College, where she has taught since 1990. She specializes in ancient drama, gender studies, and classical reception, with ongoing research on the 415 BCE Herms mutilation and the historical figure Alcibiades. Hardy teaches Greek, Latin, mythology, and literature courses across all levels, including team-taught interdisciplinary seminars.

• Gender and sexuality in classical antiquity
• Reception of classical themes in modern literature
• Pedagogical innovation in classical languages

Her publications demonstrate strong focus on classical reception in contemporary fiction (2024) and historical analysis of Athenian sociopolitical turmoil (2020).
