Dr. Clara Aranda Jan serves as Associate Professor (Teaching) in Digital Health & Entrepreneurship at the Global Business School for Health, University College London. With extensive interdisciplinary expertise, she bridges technology development with global health challenges through research in digital health, inclusive design, and systems thinking approaches.
Her research spans digital for development, digital inclusion, digital health, and sustainability, employing multidisciplinary methodologies including qualitative and quantitative tools, participatory design thinking, and network analysis. Dr. Aranda Jan has substantial field experience working across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America with diverse organizations including academic institutions (University of Cambridge, University of Heidelberg, SUTD), industrial enterprises (GSMA, pharmaceutical and MedTech sector), and international organizations (World Bank Group, WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, and NGOs).
Her publication record demonstrates consistent focus on technology implementation in resource-limited settings, with systematic reviews examining mobile health projects in Africa, medical device design for low-resource contexts, climate change impacts on nutrition, and geographic information systems for malnutrition mapping. Several publications show significant scholarly impact, with her 2014 mHealth review accumulating over 500 citations.
As Programme Lead for the MSc in Digital Health & Entrepreneurship at UCL, she oversees curriculum development, leads Digital Health Startups and Business Project modules, mentors students in professional development, and spearheads industry engagement. Previously, she served as Deputy Director of iTeams Medical, Technology iTeams and Development iTeams at University of Cambridge and as a guest lecturer at King's College London.
