Dr. Claire Richards is an Associate Lecturer in Biotechnology at the School of Life Sciences, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She leads the Subject Coordination for Medical Biotechnology and Biobusiness in undergraduate programs and conducts postdoctoral research in the Cardio-Obestetrics Research Group under A/Prof. Lana McClements. Her research focuses on placental development and preeclampsia, pioneering bioprinted placental organoids and advanced microscopy techniques.
Education: PhD in Biotechnology (2024), UTS. Research interests include 3D bioprinting, CRISPR gene editing, and reducing animal testing through cell culture innovations. She advocates for women in STEM and science communication.
Grants include the NSW Cardiovascular Research Network Travel Scholarship (2024) and a UTS Collaboration Grant for science storytelling (2023). Her teaching spans Cell Biology, Medical Biotechnology, and Advanced Microscopy. Supervision includes Honours students Grace Owens (2022) and Niamh Mills (2024), and PhD candidate Ananya Raman.
