Claire Fox

Claire Fox is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Manchester and Director of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in the School of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on victimisation among marginalised groups, particularly migrant populations, young offenders, and victims of honour-based abuse. She leads strategic initiatives to advance EDI within academia and has pioneered innovative qualitative research methods.

Her academic career began at the University of Manchester in 2010, where she teaches modules such as Victims, Crime and Justice and supervises criminology dissertations. Notable projects include the Horizon2020-funded PROMISE initiative and the N8-funded study on honour-based abuse identification, collaborating with Karma Nirvana and West Yorkshire Police.

Research interests span complex victimisation dynamics, domestic violence, and bereaved family experiences. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals on justice and gender equality. Recent publications address youth resilience, policing strategies for HBA, and migrant men's narratives in Europe.

Awarded a Principal Fellowship from AdvanceHE (2024) for leadership in inclusive education, she emphasizes collaborative efforts to foster equitable learning environments. Prior recognitions include the Teaching Excellence Award (2017).

Current projects explore interventions for 'difficult' victims and policy impacts on vulnerable groups. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates criminology with social justice advocacy, shaping both academic and community-focused outcomes.
