Cinthya Torres

Cinthya Torres is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at the University of South Alabama, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literature. Her research focuses on 20th and 21st-century Amazonian literatures and cultures from Brazil and Peru.

Torres specializes in Spatial Literary Studies, Andean Studies, and Environmental Studies, with a focus on indigenous land rights and literary geographies. Her publications include analyses of Amazonian poetry, shamanism, and critiques of extractivism.

Torres has reviewed works on topics such as travel literature, war narratives, and posthumanism, reflecting her interdisciplinary engagement with Amazonian cultural production and ecocriticism. She teaches courses in Spanish language, Hispanic literature, and Latin American civilizations.
