Cindy Trowbridge

Cindy Trowbridge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), affiliated with the College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI). She holds certifications as a Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA). Her academic career spans over 20 years, with roles as Associate Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator in UTA's Athletic Training Program.

Research: Dr. Trowbridge's work focuses on clinical effectiveness of therapeutic modalities (diathermy, ultrasound, cryotherapy), interdisciplinary collaborations in pain management and youth sports concussions, and evidence-based interventions. Her studies have explored whole-body vibration, electrical stimulation, and the efficacy of exercise programs for older adults.

Publications & Grants: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles, including studies in Journal of Athletic Training, Neurophotonics, and Journal of Applied Behavioral Research. Active grants include industry-funded research on therapeutic modalities and state-funded projects on chronic pain and youth concussion education.

Awards: Recipient of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award, SWATA Hall of Fame (2024), and NATA Foundation Lifetime Contribution Award (2022). Recognized for service, scholarship, and advocacy in athletic training.

Teaching & Service: Teaches courses on athletic injury prevention, therapeutic interventions, and functional anatomy. Advises doctoral students and mentors undergraduate honors projects. Serves on NATA committees, including as Chair of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Athletic Trainers’ Committee.
