Cindy Tekobbe

Cindy Tekobbe is an Assistant Professor of Critical Feminist Science & Technology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), dual-appointed in Gender and Women’s Studies and Communication. Her research focuses on digital lives of underserved communities, Indigenous digital methodologies, and decolonial rhetoric. She holds a PhD in Rhetoric, Writing, and Linguistics from Arizona State University, along with MA and BA degrees in English from the same institution.

Her work bridges Indigenous studies with digital activism, evident in her forthcoming book Indigenous Voices in Digital Spaces. Key professional roles include serving on the Executive Committee of the Association of Internet Research (AoIR) and co-chairing the Indigenous Caucus of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (4Cs). As an ICQCM Scholar, her scholarship emphasizes ethical responsibility and marginalized narratives in academic and digital spaces.

Research interests span Indigenous digital sovereignty, rhetorical strategies in post-truth contexts, and decolonial pedagogical practices. Her articles analyze topics ranging from cryptocurrency in Indigenous contexts to toxicity in online networks. She advocates for transformative approaches to communication, emphasizing community belonging and institutional accountability in academia.
