Cindy Moyer is a Professor of Music and Department Chair at California Polytechnic State University, Humboldt. She holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, including a B.M., M.M., D.M.A. in performance, and an M.A. in Music Theory. Her teaching focuses on violin, viola, and music theory, alongside extensive performance roles with orchestras like the Lancaster, Eureka, and Humboldt Symphonies. Moyer is a clinician and adjudicator for pre-college students, frequently presenting at the California Music Educators Conference. She authored Scales and Arpeggios with Shifting Practice for violin and viola and co-authored the American String Teachers Association String Syllabus.
Her service roles include leadership in the California Orchestra Directors Association (Coda), serving as its president, and over two decades of university service, including chairing the Department of Music (2014–2021) and the Department of Dance, Music, and Theater (2021–present). She has held positions on committees such as University Senate, Integrated Curriculum Committee, and Provost Council. Moyer’s community involvement includes coastal conservation efforts with the Audubon Society and birding initiatives.
Award recognition highlights her contributions: the 2024 Coda Distinguished Service Award and Cal Poly Humboldt’s Distinguished Faculty Award for Outstanding Service. Her leadership during the pandemic, particularly advocating for students and faculty during remote transitions, was noted as exemplary.
