Cindy Gevarter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of New Mexico, where she directs the Autism Lab. She holds a Ph.D. in early childhood special education and is a board-certified behavior analyst. Her research focuses on communication intervention and assessment for young children with autism spectrum disorder.
Dr. Gevarter leads Project SCENES (Social-communication: Collaborating Early with Naturalistic, Evidence-based Supports), an interdisciplinary program training speech-language pathology and special education students. Her recent publications examine AAC interventions, parent-implemented therapies, and dynamic assessment techniques for children with ASD.
