Dr. Cindy Elschner serves as Researcher and Head of the Research Group "Fiber-Based Biomaterials" at the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research Dresden within the Polymer Materials Engineering division.
Her primary research focuses on:
- Machine embroidery technology for structuring fibers into biomechanically adapted implants
- Sustainable composite materials from hydrolytically active glass fibers and biobased sizing for medical and technical applications
Dr. Elschner has received significant recognition including a Doctoral scholarship for supporting young female scientists at TU Dresden in 2015 and a Doctoral scholarship from the European Social Fund during 2012-2014. Her work bridges polymer engineering with medical applications, developing innovative solutions for implant technologies and sustainable materials.
