Cindy Bergeman is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame, leading the Adult Development & Aging Lab. Her research focuses on the interplay of stress, resilience, and health across the lifespan, aiming to understand successful aging mechanisms. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University (1989), with prior studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Idaho (1979).
Her work is funded by grants from the National Institute of Aging (NIA). Research interests include dynamic systems theory, emotion regulation, and health outcomes in aging populations. Recent publications explore pandemic stress effects, affect dynamics under stress, and integrative resilience frameworks.
