Chyi Chung is a Professor of Instruction in Spanish at Northwestern University's Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. She holds an M.S. in Hispanic Studies from Tamkang University (Taiwan) and an M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Loyola University Chicago. Active since 1997, she teaches Spanish/Chinese language courses and graduate pedagogy, receiving multiple teaching awards including AATSP honors and Weinberg's teaching award.
Her certifications include AAPPL Spanish assessment (ACTFL), TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), and TESOL (Teachers College, Columbia University). She served on the Fulbright U.S. National English Teaching Assistantship Screening Committee and Illinois Teacher Licensure Testing System Committee.
Chyi led the Spanish Language Program (2014-2020), currently chairs the Council on Language Instruction's treasury, and volunteers at the Field Museum’s Cyrus Tang Hall of China. Her grants include Mellon Foundation, Illinois State Board of Education, and Searle Center funding for pedagogical innovation.
