About
Chun-Jun Guo is an Associate Professor of Immunology in the Department of Immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College. His research focuses on understanding how gut microbiota and their metabolites interact with the host immune system to regulate metabolic health, inflammatory diseases, and cancer progression.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology (University of Southern California, 2014)
- B.A. in Biology (Fudan University, 2009)
Dr. Guo's work investigates:
- Mechanisms of microbiota-mediated immune tolerance
- Bile acid metabolism in cancer immunology
- Microbial cross-feeding in metabolic disease
- Role of dietary fiber in intestinal inflammation
- Microbiota regulation of serotonin signaling
- Fungal microbiome contributions to immune activation
His recent publications highlight microbiota-derived metabolites as key regulators of immune cell function, tumor growth, and nervous system interactions. Notable themes include STING signaling, bile acid modifications, and microbial engineering for therapeutic applications.
Scientific recognition:
- Halvorsen Family Research Scholar in Metabolic Health
Dr. Guo holds multiple grants for microbiome research including:
- National Cancer Institute (2025-2030): Microbiota amino acid metabolism in cancer
- Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (2024-2028): Collaborative research
- National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (2023-2028): Microbiota-host metabolic interactions
