Christopher Young

Christopher Young is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Screen Scoring program at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. A renowned film composer with nearly 100 feature scores across diverse genres, his work includes iconic films like Hellraiser, Swordfish, and The Shipping News, earning critical acclaim and awards.

• BA in Music from Hampshire College, MA in Film Scoring from North Texas State University

His research interests focus on Film Music and Orchestral Composition, emphasizing genre versatility and technical experimentation. He has collaborated with directors such as Sam Raimi, Norman Jewison, and others, blending abstract and traditional musical approaches.

Awards include the BMI Richard Kirk Career Achievement Award, a Saturn Award, and multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critic’s Choice nominations. Young actively contributes to the film music community through leadership roles in The Film Music Society and the Madrid Film and Music Festival.
