Christopher Sykes

Christopher Sykes is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the LLM Legal Practice at Manchester Law School, Manchester Metropolitan University. He joined in January 2023 after four years at BPP Law School and is an alumnus of Manchester Law School.

Research focuses on legal technology education, innovation in legal practice, and preparing lawyers for 21st-century challenges. As Deputy AI Lead for the Faculty of Business & Law, he promotes Manchester as a legal innovation hub. Current projects involve interdisciplinary research combining computing, business, and law expertise.

Career history includes co-founding Zegal legal technology business in Hong Kong (2014-2018), teaching law in Madrid (2012-2014), and practicing criminal defense law (2005-2011).
