Christopher Simpson is Professor in the Division of Cardiology at Queen's University School of Medicine. He serves as Executive Vice President (Medical) and Chief Medical Officer at Ontario Health. His research focuses on health policy including access to care, seniors' care, wait times, and medical fitness to drive. Previously, he established Kingston General Hospital's Heart Rhythm Program and served as Vice-Dean (Clinical) of Queen's Faculty of Health Sciences.
Simpson chaired the Wait Time Alliance and co-chaired the Canadian Cardiovascular Society's Consensus Conference on Medical Fitness to Drive. He served as President of the Canadian Medical Association (2014-2015) and President of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (2020-2021). His policy work has influenced national healthcare discussions on seniors' care and end-of-life issues.
