Christopher R. Jones

Dr. Christopher R. Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Social and Environmental Psychology at the University of Surrey. He joined Surrey in 2017 after a Lecturer position at the University of Sheffield, where he completed his PhD (2007) and MSc (2003). His research bridges psychology, energy systems, and sustainability, with a focus on public acceptance of energy technologies and behavioral spillover effects.

His work clusters around two themes: public acceptance of energy technologies (nuclear, wind, carbon capture, smart meters) and sustainability behavior (spillover effects, compensatory beliefs, eco-label recognition). Recent publications analyze perceptions of smart homes, energy storage, and fusion energy across Europe.
