Christopher Pearce

Christopher Pearce is a Senior Lecturer in Private Law at UNSW Law since 2019, affiliated with the School of Private & Commercial Law. He holds a BA, LLB (Hons I), and LLM from the University of Sydney. His academic career includes prior roles at the University of Sydney, UTS, and Thomson Reuters. Pearce specializes in Property Law, Contract Law, Equity, and Legal Education, with notable work on obligations in property transactions, PPSA reforms, and short-term rental regulation. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2022 UNSW Students' Choice Teaching Award and the 2024 Lawyers Weekly Academic of the Year. Active in academic governance, he serves on the UNSW Academic Board and the Australasian Law Academics Association executive. Pearce is also a prominent advocate for LGBTIQ+ inclusion as an UNSW Diversity Champion.

Research interests span stigmatized property disclosures, equitable remedies in contract disputes, and legal frameworks for emerging economic models like Airbnb. His pedagogical innovations focus on enhancing student engagement through preparatory exercises. Recent publications address PPSA compliance issues, fixture law, and environmental court jurisdiction.
