Christopher Pain

Christopher Pain is a Professor and Professorial Research Fellow in Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London, where he heads the Applied Modelling and Computation Group (AMCG). With over 200 journal publications, his research develops numerical methods for earth systems, engineering, and biomedical sciences.

Key research areas include ocean-atmosphere modeling, climate systems, multiphase flows, turbulence, and particle transport. The AMCG group specializes in high-performance computing applications across environmental science, energy systems, and medical physics.

Honored with Imperial College's Research Excellence Award (2010) and earlier Research Award (2004), he has secured over £23M in funding and graduated 45 PhD students. His work bridges disciplines through collaborations with climate science, fluid dynamics, and AI research networks.
