Christopher Nguan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia (Faculty of Medicine). He serves as surgical director of renal transplantation at Vancouver General Hospital and chairs the National Kidney Surgical Services Subcommittee under Canadian Blood Services, shaping national organ transplant policy.
His research integrates two core domains: advanced medical technologies (computer vision, AR/VR, machine learning analytics for medical imaging/data) and translational science in organ preservation/diagnostics. He pioneers planetary health studies comparing environmental impacts of dialysis versus transplantation and produces influential work on eliminating systemic racism through diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks in medical education.
