Dr. Christopher McCarty is the Director of the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research and previously served as Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Florida (1992) and a BA in Anthropology from West Virginia University (1980). His research focuses on social networks, including methodological advancements in large-scale surveys, hard-to-count populations, and professional research networks. He developed the EgoNet software for personal network data analysis. His work spans global collaborations with USAID, anthropological field studies in Mexico and West Africa, and interdisciplinary projects addressing public health, disaster resilience, and education.
