Christopher Mayo serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Queen's University. A Toronto-based composer, his works span orchestral, chamber, vocal, and electronic music, and have been performed by leading ensembles worldwide including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
His creative research centers on composition with a distinctive rhythmic language and eclectic inspirations. Mayo is noted for his versatility as an orchestrator and arranger, collaborating across genres with artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Tanya Tagaq, and Goldie. His compositions have been commissioned for festivals including Bang on a Can and Aldeburgh, and recorded commercially by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Mayo's music has received international recognition through broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and CBC Radio 2. He held the Composer-in-Residence position with Manchester Camerata from 2012 to 2013, and his works have been conducted by prominent figures including Susanna Mälkki and Nicholas Collon.
