About
Dr. Christopher Jung is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alaska. He holds a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado, Boulder (2009), where he also earned his M.S. in Integrative Physiology (2007) and B.A. in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (2003).
His research focuses on the physiology of sleep and circadian rhythms, examining how these processes interact to affect metabolism, endocrine function, and cognitive performance. Key areas include developing countermeasures for sleep disorders (e.g., sleep apnea), mitigating effects of sleep deprivation, and studying high-altitude impacts on physiology.
Dr. Jung's publications demonstrate consistent focus on neuroendocrine regulation, cognitive performance under sleep deprivation, and metabolic changes during sleep. His work bridges experimental physiology with clinical applications for public health.
