Christopher J. Gilbert is an Associate Professor of English at Assumption College, located within the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Public Culture from Indiana University, alongside advanced certifications in pedagogy and communication. His research focuses on political humor, cultural identity, and war culture, particularly examining how comedy and satire intersect with political discourse and trauma representation.

Dr. Gilbert’s educational background includes a Ph.D. (2015), an Advance Pedagogy Teaching Certificate (Indiana University), an M.A. (2011), and a B.A. (2005) in Communication and Marketing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

His research interests span the analysis of political humor’s role in shaping public perception, the representation of cultural identity in media, and the portrayal of combat trauma in war narratives. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, including the book Caricature and National Character: The United States at War (2021), and his work often bridges rhetorical theory with contemporary media and cultural studies.
