Christopher Hayes is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Gallaudet University, affiliated with the School of Science, Technology, Accessibility, Mathematics, and Public Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut (2022), an M.A. from The George Washington University (2014), and a B.S. from Gallaudet University (2012). Prior to his current role, he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut (2016–2022) and an Adjunct Instructor at Gallaudet (2014–2016).
His research focuses on theoretical foundations of heat flow and electric current on fractals, employing tools from probability theory, calculus, and geometry. He is expanding into data science, actuarial science, and deaf mathematics education. Current courses include Calculus I, Linear Algebra, and Statistics.
Research interests also include improving accessibility in mathematics education for deaf students and advancing signing mathematics pedagogy. He mentors undergraduate research assistants and actively seeks collaborators in computational mathematics and educational equity.
Personal interests include card games (Spades, Bridge), board games, craft hobbies (block printing, sewing), and sports like pickleball.
