Christopher Gutteridge

Christopher Gutteridge is a Senior Software Engineer (Research) at the University of Southampton's School of Electronics and Computer Science. He has been instrumental in developing key research infrastructure, including the EPrints software (versions 2.0 and 3.0) and the University's open data service. His work has significantly contributed to the open access movement and earned him prestigious awards such as the Times Higher Education Award (2012) and the Jason Farradane Award (2018).

His research interests span Open Data, Open Access, and Linked Data, with a focus on improving data management practices and accessibility. He has also explored innovative applications of technology, such as QR codes for public transport information and Minecraft-based research communication.

Christopher has built critical systems like the all.soton mailing list service, the ECS Intranet, and CAPE—a tool for creating static websites from datasets. His technical expertise and contributions to the information profession have been recognized through awards and his leadership in developing open science tools.
