Dr Christopher Flanagan is a Lecturer in Accounting & Finance at the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith Business School since 2019. He holds a BAcc (Hons), MRes in Sociology, and a PhD in Accounting from the same institution. His research focuses on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the accountancy profession, particularly class-based barriers, gender equity, and social mobility. He investigates working practices in professional services firms and organizations' diversity disclosures, while advocating for inclusive education and graduate skill development.
Chris is a member of the Accounting research cluster and serves as Associate Editor of Accounting Education, Secretary of BAFA's EDI group, and member of the Insolvency Service's Diversity Steering Group. His recent grants include projects on social mobility in accountancy (2025) and EDI in insolvency professions (2023). He teaches courses on accounting theories, ethics, and professional issues at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
