About
Dr. Christopher F Basler is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on molecular determinants of virulence in emerging viruses such as Ebola and Marburg viruses, particularly their immune evasion and replication mechanisms. The Basler Lab aims to develop therapeutics targeting these mechanisms while exploring their role in viral pathogenesis across host species.

Research interests intersect with biodefense, virology, and immunology, with a specific emphasis on negative-strand RNA viruses. His lab also investigates cytokine signaling, interferon antagonists, and host-pathogen interactions. Current students include PhD candidates Megan Edwards and Benjamin Yen, alongside postdoctoral fellows and research personnel such as Alicia Feagins, Priya Luthra, and Matthew Kreitman.
