Christopher E. Forth is Dean’s Professor of History at the University of Kansas, with courtesy appointments in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and American Studies. He holds a Diplôme d’Architecte from Université de Constantine, an M.Arch., and a Doctor of Architecture from the University of Michigan. His interdisciplinary research explores the cultural history of gender, sexuality, and the body in modern Europe and America, with recent work examining fat as cultural/material phenomenon.
He teaches courses on gender, sexuality, and bodily history, including interdisciplinary graduate colloquia. Publications include monographs like Fat: A Cultural History and edited volumes such as Honour, Violence and Emotion, analyzing historical intersections of embodiment and power. Current projects investigate modernity’s impact on vitality perceptions and far-right masculinities.
