About
Christopher Doropoulos is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Marine Spatial Ecology Laboratory, University of Queensland (UQ), under the supervision of Peter J. Mumby. He completed his PhD in 2013 at UQ, focusing on coral recruitment dynamics and the impacts of ocean acidification on coral reef ecosystems. His current research investigates how biological and physical interactions influence coral recruitment patterns in collaboration with the Palau International Coral Reef Centre.
Education:
- PhD in Marine Science, University of Queensland, 2013. Thesis: "Disturbance effects to coral recruitment dynamics on the Great Barrier Reef.
Research Interests:
Christopher’s research focuses on coral recruitment dynamics, the effects of ocean acidification on coral-algal interactions, and the role of herbivorous fish in reef recovery. He examines how climate change impacts coral resilience and population dynamics, particularly in the context of reef habitat recovery. His work bridges ecological processes at multiple scales, from individual coral-algal interactions to large-scale reef ecosystem dynamics.
