Christopher Cardwell

Professor Christopher Cardwell is a statistician affiliated with the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen's University Belfast, specifically within the Centre for Public Health. He holds a Professorship and actively supervises PhD students in epidemiology, with a focus on pharmacoepidemiology.

His research interests center on the impact of medications on cancer risk and survival. Notable projects include studies on aspirin's role in gastroesophageal cancer survival, proton pump inhibitors and gastric cancer risk, and hormone replacement therapy in cancer patients. He contributes to randomized controlled trials, prognostic modeling, and systematic reviews.

Recent work includes a shortlisting for the 2021 Vice-Chancellor’s Research Prize for Project Daire. Key collaborations involve multidomain interventions for diabetes patients and evaluations of urban greenway health impacts.
