Christopher Brewster is a Professor of the Application of Emerging Technologies at Maastricht University, where he leads multiple Horizon Europe projects including EU Farmbook (2022-2029), BioFIN (2024-2026), OpenAgri (2024-2026), and Ambrosia (2024-2027). He also serves as a Senior Scientist in TNO's Data Science group and co-PI for the NWO-funded GENIUS AI Lab.
His research focuses on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence applications in agriculture, food systems, and environmental sustainability. Key areas include semantic technologies, interoperability architectures, FAIR data principles, digital twins, and ethical governance of AI. He integrates heterogeneous data for LLMs and applies systems theory to anticipate unintended consequences of technological adoption.
