Dr. Blake Wilson is a new faculty member joining the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern California (USC) in January 2026, specializing in physical chemistry. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of California – Santa Barbara and completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.

His research focuses on probing the structural behavior of biomolecules, particularly proteins and viruses, using magnetic resonance tools to study molecular processes linked to neurodegenerative diseases and HIV maturation. He aims to develop novel solid-state NMR and EPR techniques to capture transient molecular structures on sub-millisecond timescales.
Dr. Wilson is committed to mentoring students and fostering early engagement in research, inspired by his own high school research experience. Outside academia, he enjoys science fiction, hiking, rock climbing, and surfing.
