Christopher Bishop

Dr. Christopher Bishop is a Lecturer at The Australian National University, affiliated with the School of Literature, Languages & Linguistics and the Centre for Classical Studies. He holds a BA (Hons), PG Dip. Ed., and PhD. His research focuses on Late Antiquity, Early Medieval History, and the reception of classical and medieval themes in modern contexts, including comic books and digital media.

His work explores intersections between classical antiquity and medieval studies, with a particular emphasis on cultural memory, literary analysis, and the reinterpretation of historical narratives in popular culture. Recent publications address topics such as religious practices in Late Antiquity, the representation of ruins in medieval texts, and the portrayal of medieval themes in video games.

Bishop has contributed to interdisciplinary projects, including studies on Galla Placidia’s legacy and the reinterpretation of medieval dungeons in contemporary discourse. His research outputs include articles, book chapters, and reviews, totaling over 20 publications since 2005.
