Christopher Beck

Christopher Beck is a Part-time Lecturer at Parsons School of Design and a New York State Registered Architect. His research examines the creative process in art and design fields, with emphasis on how digital technology influences production methods and how capital systems affect labor practices. His forthcoming book, The Labor of Architecture: Creativity, Design, and the Building of a New Class Consciousness, will be published by Monthly Review Press.

Beck serves as an advisor for the IAM Union, leveraging experience from organizing architecture's first private-sector union. His professional background includes architectural practice and design work in Brooklyn. Academic credentials include an ongoing MA in Liberal Arts at The New School, an M.Arch from Rhode Island School of Design, and a BS in Architecture from the University of Maryland-College Park.
