Christopher Baron

Christopher Baron is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classics at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on Greek and Roman historiography, the history of Greeks in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and Greek epigraphy.

Key themes in his work include the study of Greek historians under the Roman Empire. He serves as General Editor for The Herodotus Encyclopedia, slated for publication in 2018, and is working on articles exploring Herodotus, Arrian, and Cassius Dio.

His first book, Timaeus of Tauromenium and Hellenistic Historiography, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2013. His research spans intellectual history, political history, and the classical traditions of Europe and the Mediterranean.
