He leads projects like Fresh Eyes on Ice, Fish Creek Watershed Observation, and Arctic Trafficability Study, with past initiatives including Triple C - Arctic Thaw Lake Basins and the Arctic Lake Ice Systems Science (ALISS) program.
Arp's research spans hydrology, climatology, and environmental science, utilizing remote sensing and geospatial analysis. His publications highlight climate-driven changes in freshwater systems, permafrost thaw impacts, and adaptive management strategies. Current projects emphasize climate resilience and Arctic engineering challenges.
He earned a Ph.D. in Ecology from Utah State University (2006), an M.S. in Watershed Science from Colorado State University (1998), and a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology/Environmental Studies from Iowa State University (1994).
